Pelican Live Sound Ltd, London based Sound Engineering course as an intervention

My name is Jane and I am the course designer, tutor and creator of

Pelican Live Sound.

During lockdown, I experienced something of an epiphany (as most people did) and an idea started to grow.

Could I create an initiative to help young people, that are struggling, to realise an alterative?

As I also struggled at school - with dyslexia - and came from an extremely dysfunctional and traumatic homelife, I too experienced the debilitating powerlessness, low self-esteem and feelings of exclusion from education, my peers & life opportunities.

However, I went on to become a live sound engineer for 31 years, working in live music venues, TV & radio, music festivals, touring with bands around the world and finally Head of Audio at the

o2 Shepherd's Bush Empire.

I am now a teacher with QTS and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, I still work as a sound engineer at John Henry's Audio LTD.

I was that young person, struggling to make my way in life and create a different way.

But now...I am Pelican.
